Technology for Dental Treatments
At Karo Dental, we use dental technology to help us diagnose and treat dental issues affecting your oral health. These issues range from cavities to orthodontic conditions.
Our dentists use technology to view affected areas beneath the surface that are not visible to the naked eye. Certain devices can also allow us to perform preliminary testing for conditions like cancer.
Our goal is to provide patients with dental care while ensuring they are fully informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us do that.
Digital X-rays
Traditionally, X-rays (radiographs) were performed using film, which required time to process and review. Now, we have the option of using digital X-rays, which produce highly detailed computer images of the teeth, gums, and other oral structures and conditions.
Panoramic X-rays
Panoramic X-rays create a single image of your entire mouth. This image represents the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic X-rays are often used to help plan treatments for orthodontics, extractions and implants.
Cone Beam Cat Scan
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a unique type of X-ray machine that generates 3D (three-dimensional) images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bones in the face. Images obtained with CBCT allow for more precise treatment planning. This can be especially useful in treating snoring and sleep apnea.
Intraoral Scanners
Intraoral scanners create digital impressions of your mouth and teeth. This is a simple alternative to traditional impressions, which use a dental putty placed in the mouth. This putty would form to the teeth and then harden. Using intraoral scanners, your dentist uses an optical scanning wand to take a digital image of your teeth.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps the dentist identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Fluorescence visualization technology can be used during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions and only take about two minutes to complete.
CEREC Same-Day Restorations®
Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) is a system that allows our dental team to fabricate and place ceramic dental crowns, inlays and onlays during a single appointment.
